On the Trail of the Shard

Kuthona 20, 4716

  • Gav leads us to the Green Piper (an inn and tavern) in the Widdlehshins.

Kuthona 21, 4716

  • Divination: we need to help others to find the path; don’t trust all those we help; the shard is protected by an ancient evil; protect yourselves from death.
  • We did some shopping.
  • We talked to Gave about Eando Kline: Therassic Spire; Augers on strike because of conflict with the Ardoc family (Construct maker’s of Bis);
  • The Therassic Spire is in the Highside Stachs (rich folk).
  • While passing through Bis, we tried to get information about the disagreement. All we found out is that the Ardocs know the problem and aren’t interested in solving it. Rumor has it the Ardocs have (or took something) of importance to the Augers.
  • After pounding on the door for ages, someone finally answers.

Kuthona 22, 4716

  • We went to the Sorry Excuse inn/tavern in the Hospice. We talk to an Auger named Vergun.
  • Berkanin Ardoc has kidnapped Augustille (a male Auger), possibly trying to figure out how his diviantory powers work. Berkanin has a balcony that Gav can lead us to. He may be holding the Troll there.
  • We went back to the Therassic Spire. It was still closed. Koifa if would not let us in.
  • We get a look at the Hanging Manse. There are 2 entrances: a 10′ × 10′ lift, and stairs going into the wall. The Balcony is 40’ above the street.
  • Berkanin is a Wizard with ADHD. His major domo (Herifax) is a winged female with a bow. His mistress is a cat-like woman (Kanya). He dismissed all his servants about a month ago because he has all Constructs doing their jobs.

Kuthona 23, 4716

  • We go to Berkanin’s mansion to negotiate for the release of the Augustille. No help there.
  • In the evening, we returned to the manor disguised as a necromancer with some Undead servants.
  • We stealthed our way into the compound right into Herifax and Kanya. Pavo wiped out Halifax and we chased Kanya up stairs into a room with Augustille, Berkanin, and three Clockwork creatures.
  • We rescued Augustille and brought the unconscious torturer, Berkanin back to the Augers to let them judge what to do with him.

Kaer Maga - City of Strangers

Kuthona 5, 4716

  • We heard screams in the night. When we went to investigate we found the crew of a river boat being attacked by three Spectres!
  • Although Pavo was horribly drained by the Undead things, we killed them all.

Kuthona 11, 4716

  • We arrived in Whistledown.

Kuthona 16, 4716

  • While breaking camp, a pair of Bullettes attacked us.
  • Although Grath was nearly killed before he even knew he was in danger, we managed to kill one and drive off the other.

Kuthona 20, 4716

  • We arrived at base of the Storval Plateau and prepared to take the Halflight Path into Kaer Maga.
  • A Duskwarden named Abra Lopati leads us to the front of the line and offers us a discount on passage into the city in exchange for escorting some merchants along the path.
  • While traversing the Halflight path, we were attacked by a trio of Seugathi attacked us.
  • Holo killed one of the merchant’s children while under the effects of Confusion.
  • Grath (also Confused) nearly killed Sawyer.
  • Thankfully, we made it to the city proper.
  • Abra rewarded Onos with a Greater Halflight Charm. Onos asked Abra to pass along a note to Onos’s friend, Norwitch Finn.
  • Gav Nahli (a street urchin) becomes our guide for 5 gp/day.

Session 19
The Lady's Light - Part 7

Neth 19, 4716

  • We let Oriana go to collect her Gray Maidens and leave the Lady’s Light.
  • We took the other portal and arrived in a strange, natural cavern where we found the Shard of Lust.
  • We start searching the Lady’s Light thoroughly from top to bottom.
  • Now that we’ve killed a “power source” for the Lady’s Light, things seem to be powering down.
  • Behind a previously undiscovered secret door, we found a blood-themed hall full of pillars. Six Vampiric Mists attacked us!
  • In the next room, we triggered a Conjuration that released 4 Babau upon us.
  • We made our way back to the shrine of Nocticula and found the outer corridor beginning to fill with water. In the shrine, we were attacked by four Shadow Mastiffs.
  • We realized that the magic holding the water at bay was gone or weakened and the corridors were flooding.

Neth 20, 4716

  • We continued searching the Lady’s Light. We killed some Water Elementals and decided to leave the Glass Golem well enough alone.
  • The Lady’s Light completely searched, we returned to the Troglodyte tribe.

Neth 21, 4716

  • We headed back to Magnimar.

Neth 24, 4716

  • We arrived in Magnimar.

Neth 25, 4716

  • We have a long debrief with Sheila Heidmarch.
  • We learn some things about Kaer Maga.
  • The next shard we seek is the Shard of Gluttony. Lady Heidmarch gave us a Pink Rhomboid Ioun Stone to negate the Shard’s curse.
  • “People” know we’re after the Shattered Star and so there may be groups who will be competing with us for the Shards.

  • We left Magnimar for Kaer Maga.

The Lady's Light - Part 6

Neth 18, 4716

  • We managed to safely teleport into an oblong chamber where four Lust Sinspawn were waiting for us.
  • Onos sent his Earth Elemental ahead to “scout” and that led us to a huge hall filled with party goers. Sorshen herself (or so it appeared) watches the whole thing. Runelord Karzoug was also there. The crowd was an illusion. The party growd turned out to be an illusion, but the three summoned Giant Spiders were real. There was a Lust Sinspawn spellcaster we had to deal with.
  • Behind secret door in the ballroom we found a large torture chamber with spiral stairs and 8 Gray Maidens and a leader entered from various doors to attack us.
  • We discovered some notes and maps for an attack on Korvosa.
  • Up a set of spiral stairs we found a large room with statues of each of the Runelords. We tried to solve a riddle and only succeeded in summoning a small horde of Elementals.
  • Eventually, we figured out how to activate the portal in the room.
  • We found ourselves in strange series of rooms with odd symbols (snake mosaic in either yellow or red) on the floors with all of our magic dispelled.
  • In one of the rooms we found a Gray Maiden officer – Commander Oriana. We talked her into helping us in exchange for her freedom and the possible rescue of her people.
  • We buffed up and used the portal to enter “Sorshen’s” boudoir. There’s also the Incubus we had dealt with before and a pair of Schirs (likely summoned). Sorshen revealed herself as an Alu-Demon.
  • After a all-out brawl, we managed to kill all our foes.
  • We rested for the night.

Neth 19, 4716

The Lady's Light - Part 5

Neth 18, 4716

  • As we started to move towards the sounds of suffering, a horrid lobster monster attacked us from behind, coming out of the lake.
  • We entered a water-filled room with a small island in the middle. We found a Sea Hag torturing a Gray Maiden along with four Fuaths.
  • We found a room full of more dead Gray Maidens. Apparently, “Sorshen” was giving Gray Maidens to the Hag for entertainment purposes.
  • After opening the secret door, we were attacked by three gigantic cobras. These were likely transplanted by the Gray Maidens to torment us.
  • We found another multi-panel door of Sorchen’s sexual activity. On the other side was six Gray Maidens alive, armored, and ready to fight. four more joined the fight from another room.
  • We took four of the Maidens prisoner, questioned them, and "imprisoned them.
  • We found a creepy shrine to Nocticula. We decided to leave this place alone for now.
  • We found a perfumed room with a trap. We recovered a “bomb” of some kind.
  • We found a long gallery of statues, gold plates, and art work. At the end of the hall was a door leading to a slippery pit.
  • All four of us touched the statues which caused the gold plates to glow brightly. Grath, on the center plate vanished!

What Happened

Neth 2, 4716

  • We head back to Magnimar.

Neth 6, 4716

  • Arrive in Magnimar.
  • Buy/sell items
  • Get Grath raised form the dead.

Neth 13, 4716

  • Leave for Lady’s Light

Neth 16, 4716

  • Arrive at the Troglodyte tribe.
  • The Trogs told us that the Gray Maidens have been scouring the swamp to capture creatures. They’re probably going to put them in our way when we go back.

Neth 17, 4716

  • We decided to attack the Hydra, mostly because we hope it has treasure.
  • It looks like the Gray Maidens possibly captured the Hydra and took its treasure.
  • We went back to the Lady’s Light.
  • We saw signs of Gray Maiden activity.
  • When we arrived at the area where we fought the Incubus, we found him waiting for us. He smiled at us and teleported away, likely to warn the rest of the complex.
  • Without Sawyer, we had no Mage Hand to light the gray torch. So, we triggered the summoned Cacaodaemons and killed them.
  • We kissed the statue’s feet and teleport to the underground river.
  • Onos summons some Water Elementals to ferry us all across the water, since the Gray Maidens had removed the boats.
  • We opened another multi=paneled door (Pressing the central button, which depicts Sorshen dominating a giant, causes the panel to glow softly as Thassilonian writing appears along the panel’s upper edge, spelling the phrase “And so do the mighty Architects serve eternal” as the door swings open.)
  • The door opened into a long, pillared hallway with a throne at the end. Three lizard creatures and a Cave Giant (who thinks she was Sorshen). She was throwing chests full of offal at us.
  • A platinum plate on the back of the throne.
  • While sleeping, Sorchen teleported into the room with the Hydra form the swamp!

Neth 18, 4716

  • We Water Walked our way down the underground river.
  • This time, the Skavenlings ignored our Sorshen and attacked us.
  • With some wax and magic, we managed to resist the whispers. We found a cove with a large beach and the boats.
  • We found the tracks of Gray Maidens headed to a secret door that the whispers were telling us to go to.

Lady's Light - Part 3

What Happened

Lamashan 28, 4716

  • Onos’ idea allowed up to bypass the gray flame trap that summoned the Cacoadaemons.
  • We got past the secret door (finally) by touching the word “touch.”
  • The door led into an elaborate bedroom – Sorshen’s “playroom.”
  • We found a room covered in erotic frescoes with a huge starburst on the floor. There was some kind of Enchantment spell cast over the room, but we couldn’t figure out what it did.
  • We found a small room with three more doors and a small, magical pool of water. We were unable to determine its purpose.
  • In an alchemical laboratory we had to deal with a pair of Gray Oozes.
  • In a summoning room, the conjuring circle summoned a horrible worm creature that a Confusion aura that caused us a bit of trouble! We manage to kill the thing, but it was scary.
  • We found a room with six sheet-covered stone slabs with manacles. We couldn’t figure out the purpose of the room. I mean, we can guess at the purpose…
  • Faced with the options of taking a 3’ drain or the “teleporter” wall, we chose to investigate the “teleporter” wall. It worked. It Teleported us to another underground lake. A demonic carving said, “Farewell.”
  • While boating across the lake we were attacked by nine Lacedons. Grath (as a giant octopus) was paralyzed immediately and killed. Again.
  • While exploring the underground lake looking for a way out, we saw many corpses manacled to the walls. We were attacked a pair of Undead giant bats called Skavenlings. They pulled off the attack when they saw Sorshen/Grath “napping” in the boat behind us.
  • Eventually, we started hearing whispers and urging and decided to turn back and investigate the door we saw earlier.
  • Instead, we shook the demon statue’s hand, said “farewell,” and it teleported us back to the wall where we first teleported.
  • We decided to rest again so Onos could pray for Speak With Dead so they could establish Grath’s wishes.

Lady's Light - Part 2

What Happened

Lamashan 28, 4716

  • The guy in the room turned out to be a Dhampir Magus. Although he dealt some significant damage to us, we killed him.
  • In a hallway with pillars (carved like Sorshen, of course), we faced three Marble Sentinels. The heads of three of the pillars detached and sprouted metal legs and claws!
  • Onos and Pavo fell into a clever spiked pit trap, but it was little more than a delay.
  • In a large room (decorated with a mural of Sorshen standing on a pyramid) we could see signs of a recent battle. We never found any clues as to who or what was killed here. Onos suspects this may explain how the two Gray Maidens died, but there’s no evidence for this. We did get attacked by an Incubus and a pair of summoned Schirs.
  • We found a room with a strange, magical, gray flame. When we tried to ignite a strange torch in the gray flame, five Cacodaemons were summoned and attacked us.
  • We found a long flight of stairs leading to another mural of Sorshen with “Prostrate thyself and demonstrate proper devotion, my sweet slave, if you wish to enter my domain.” The wall radiated strong Conjuration magic and we made the guess that repeating the phrase might Teleport us somewhere.
  • We decided to investigate the rest of the level before messing with the magic wall.
  • We found a hallway with many doors (leading to small rooms) and a secret door at the end, each inscribed with “Thou wouldst enter? Then thou must touch!” One door inscribed with “Thou wouldst enter to enjoy the company of the Runelord of Lust herself? Then thou must touch!” was trapped with a powerful cold trap. We tried several methods of getting the secret door to open, but to no avail.
  • We decided to rest for the night and take another crack at it with fresh eyes.

Lady's Light - Part I

What Happened

Lamashan 22, 4716

  • Holo has found a merchant interested in setting up a trade network for Mushfens mushrooms (and such). ( Sabriyya Kalmeralm)

Lamashan 23, 4716

Lamashan 26, 4716

  • Arrived in the Mushfens, met with Maroux, and went to the Troglodyte cave.

Lamashan 27, 4716

  • We spent the day setting up a shrine to Sarenrae in the cave, training, and setting up trade program.

Lamashan 28, 4716

  • We make our way to the Boggard cave and then through the tunnels toward the Lady’s Light.
  • When we reached the intersection of doom, we found the bodies of the spider monsters gone.
  • We investigated the monument and it appeared a person may have actually been encased inside the statue. A female with wings…maybe a Demon of some kind?
  • We came to a marble chamber with ten columns of female warriors and a shaft leading doiwn into darkness.
  • Four of the coulmns animated and attacked us. The Caryatid Coulmns broke some of our weapons, but we managed to destroy them.
  • The pit was protected with permanent Darkness and Silence spells (for some reason). At the bottom we found something that looked like a crypt or tomb.
  • In the sarcohphogus, we found the intact body of Sorshen? When Grath tried to take a gem out of the body’s skin his mind was transferred into the body of the woman! Grath’s body, is basically dead, but he’s now in the body of a Runelord!
  • One columned hall led to a river. The other led to a red, metal wall carved with scenes of Sorshen treating with bat-winged women. It looks like Sorshen bound numerous Succubi into various parts of the Lady’s Light.
  • The red metal wall is actually a door with a combination lock made out of the images. “Ayandamahla is bound to the Light for all ages.”
  • Behind the door, we found the river again, but also a pair of boats.
  • Down the river a short distance, we found a huge chamber. We “docked” the boats on a platform to investigate a large statue of a woman prepared to leap into the lake.
  • The Glass Golem almost killed Pavo, but when Grath ordered it to stop, it did! There seems to no purpose to this platform or guardian. It can water walk though, which is cool.
  • On a sandy beach, we found two mounds of sand and a door. The mounds are graves of Gray Maidens.
  • Behind the door, we find a room covered in murals of sexy times with otherworldly beings. (Amidaveus Yasrin)
  • In an octagonal room full of pillars, a strange man guarding a gate greeted Grath/Sorshen, but realized Grath wasn’t her and fell back into a defensive stance.

Death of a Hero

What Happened

Lamashan 10, 4716

  • We rescued the Troglodyte prisoner (a female named Azoresh).. She was able to give us some information. Most importantly, the chief and the oracle disagree with each other regarding working with the Gray Maidens.
  • We sent her back to the tribe.
  • We made our way west to the Boggard “temple.”
  • The temple was dedicated to Gogunta (Demon god of Baggards). Yay! More demon-worshipers!
  • We quickly find ourselves in a battle with five Boggards. They are joined by one of the chieftain’s guards who leaves to warn the rest of the tribe.
  • After mopping them up, we went around a corner to face the rest of the tribe, including their brood mother and chieftain. Sawyer’s create pit spell really comes in handy.
  • The Boggard tribe is no more.

Lamashan 11, 4716

  • We started down the “tunnel of spider creatures.”
  • At an intersection of tunnels (with a Thassilonian monument), we were attacked by three spider creatures. Grath charged into the fight before anyone could use the spider juice.
  • The three spider creatures teamed up and actually killed Grath!
  • We avenged Grath’s death, collected his body, and took his body to Maroux, but she was unable to bring him back from the dead.
  • We decided to bring Grath back to Magnimar in the hopes of having him reincarnated.
