Beyond the Doomsday Door - Part 5

Abadius 26, 4717

  • We questioned Rickle Peaks (a ghost haunting a library). The most important information we gained was that Artathanatus is not here and that he never passed through the Doomsaday Door adjacent to the library that leads to a magical portal that transports people to a mountainous region “far away”.
  • The Ghost joins us as we investigate the rest of the level.
  • We went down to the next level and found a room with a central pillar. There was a door with another Doomsday Lock. So, we backed up and went down the other stairway, leading to a large cavern guarded by six Sea Drakes!
  • There was nowhere else to go from the sea cave. So, we went back to the pillared room with the Doomsday Lock on the door.
  • Grath found a magical Abjuration trap on the door. While trying to disable the trap, he set it off.
  • Beyond the door, four shadow-like monsters attacked us from four sarcophagi. Onos was nearly killed, but we managed to kill the Shadow monsters.
  • Depleted of many resources, we fell back to the lighthouse again and restored Gein Kafog’s Wisdom. He’s a priest of Zon-Kuthon and was able to give us some information; none of it terribly useful.

Abadius 27, 4717

  • Before descending to the 4th-level again, we found our invisible “ghost.” It turned out to be some sort of scary Fey creature. He died quickly.
  • We did a quick search of the library and found a secret door where we liberated several useful scrolls.
  • We set of a rusty trap that only hurt Pavo a bit.

Beyond the Doomsday Door - Part 4

Abadius 25, 4717

  • We encountered two more Gongorinans. Grath and Sawyer were turned into a monkey before we could kill them. At least Grath was able to Wild Shape out of his Baleful Polymorph.
  • We had to fall back to the lighthouse (again) to rest and remove the curse on Sawyer.

Abadius 26, 4717

  • We investigated a workshop for making Alchemical and Clockwork Golems.
  • We find a room decorated with a sort of an illusory planetarium.
  • We stumbled into a room where two dominatrix’s were torturing a man strapped to a table. The women turned out to be Animate Dreams! We killed the women and found the man had been totally Wisdom drained by them.
  • We had Grath and Sawyer take him up to the lighthouse, but before they could get there, they were attacked by six Sinspawn.
  • During the battle, the creepy Golem-crafter entered the fray as well. This turned out to be Zolerim, the priest of Nethys that betrayed the Abbey. Once we started to threaten him, he used Dimension Door to escape.
  • So, we went back to Zolerim’s room to look for him and or loot the room. * On the way there, he jumped us at one of the intersections. We had him in serious trouble and he used Dimension Door again.

Beyond the Doomsday Door - Part 3

Evening of Abadius 24, 4717

  • In a chamber meant to represent Groetus’ connection to ruins, we were attacked by a crab-like Qlippoth. Then a second one teleported in to help his chitonous buddy. Pavo got turned into a leopard!
  • We searched all the rooms we’d been in and headed back to rest to try to un-polymorph Pavo.

Morning of Abadius 25, 4717

  • The last room on level two contained Walter White’s RV.
  • We found (yet another) Doomsday Door, but this one had strong Conjuration magic on it, was humming, and seemed to shudder and regular intervals. We left it alone for now.
  • In a room full of fire, we had to fight an Efritti and three Salamanders. The room was so hot it would have burned us alive, so we left the smith to his work and went a different way.
  • We found a storage room with jars of blue mist.
  • While identifying a magic blue lantern, a Night Hag attacked us. Then she turned incorporeal and traveled through the wall to escape. We managed to kill her with a pair of well-timed crits.
  • In an otherwise empty room, we killed a Bar-Igura.
  • We found a prison complex. We free a man named Nildus. He tells us some things. We escorted him to the lighthouse and returned to the fray.

Beyond the Doomsday Door - Part 2

Abadius 24, 4717

  • Our Red Cap companion tried to escape, so we trapped her in the hallway with the Doomsday Door.
  • We thoroughly searched the level we’re on and bashed down a wall to discover it leads up to a trap door in the floor of the abbey.
  • We descended the stairs and came upon four Werebears that attacked us. Halfway through the fight, two Shoggti joined in the fight from behind the Werebears! We managed to kill them all.
  • We fell back to the “lighthouse” to rest for few hours using nap stack.

Evening of Abadius 24, 4717

  • Back down the stairs, we found a shrine to Sarenrae. When Onos prayed in the shrine, he received a vision that there is still a little bit of faith in Pharsma left in Ardathanatus – he may still be redeemable.
  • Grath disable some kind of magical water trap.
  • We found another Doomsday Door.
  • We found a shrine to Desna covered in orange slime. Inside, another horrible Quillpoth creature attacked us. It gave us some problems, but we killed it.
  • We returned to the upstairs Doomsday Door and fortunately, the same combination opened the lock. We descended the stairs on the other side.
  • We entered a room with another Doomsday Door in it. There is a fresco of an ancient priest prophesying the death Aroden – 10,000 years before his death!
  • We came to a room with a large boulder in it.

Beyond the Doomsday Door - Part 1

Abadius 24, 4717

  • The first room was guarded by six Skulks. A Clockwork Golem also joined the fight. They were all killed/exploded without too much trouble.
  • In an ice-filled room, we found four Ice Golems We exploded these as well.
  • We found a room with six more Skulks and wrecked them. The fight spilled over into the next room where there were .four more Skulks and a Tiaga Giant. The Tiaga Giant nearly killed Pavo (who was saved by Breath of Life), but we prevailed in the end.

Session 29
Windsong Abbey - Initial Foray

Abadius 23, 4717

  • In an ornate bathing room, we had to fight a Hill Giant and a Redcap. It turns out they were backed up by an invisible Medusa. The Medusa turned out to be a high level priestess and was very tough to deal with. We also learned that Craig uses a specially weighted d20 to roll our miss chances. Bastard.
  • The statue in the room turns out to be Koriah Azmaran (the woman Lady Heidmarch was speaking with when we first came to the manor). We brought her back with the Stone Salve.
  • Koriah was able to give us a little information. Her father (a Cleric of Desna) is the person hiding in the central tower.
  • We descended the stairs and had to fight three Ettins and their leader. We wiped them out and made our way to the central tower.
  • We rescue Cora’s father (Casamir) and leave the abeey for our hiding spot.
  • Casamir was able to give us a little information:
  • In the basement is a special door that has a very complicated lock and only the high priest (now dead) knew how to open it.
  • The man who led the attack on the abbey is an ex-priest (Ardathanatus , an Elf, of course) of the abbey. He is now turned to chaos & evil.
  • A priest of Nethys is helping the Elf.
  • Ardathanatus has the Shard of Envy. He is at least 15th-level!
  • He gave us the token and password for the magically sealed door to the center tower.

Abadius 24, 4717

  • We came into the abbey during the day this time.
  • We also found a clue to the combination for the special door.
  • In the north tower we saw iron boots run upstairs, so we suspect the Redcaps are on the 2nd- and 3rd-levels of the tower.

Abadius 23, 4717

  • We killed two more waves of Hill Giants & Ettins.
  • We decided to enter the abbey through the burned out roof of the largest building.
  • There were six Dust Mephits waiting for us. They were joined by a Redcap leader/spellcaster. She fled after her Invisibility was foiled by our Faerie Fire.
  • In a large grand chamber, 3 Mummies and an Juju Zombie Bugbear attacked us. The Juju Zombie brutalized Grath before we killed it. Sawyer dropped the Mummies in an Acid Pit and made the most disgusting soup any of us have ever smelled.
  • Then we found a pair of Vrocks. We killed them without too much trouble.

  • We speak with Bevaluu.
  • The Abbey is built on a old temple to Groetus which happens to have a Doomsday Door on site.

Abadius 17, 4717

  • An Elf (Ayamyra) comes to talk to us about going to the Windsong Abbey.

Abadius 20, 4717

  • We go to Sandpoint.

Abadius 21, 4717

  • We arrive in Sandpoint and talk to Pilla.
  • There are redcaps and Giants at the Abbey.

Abadius 23, 4717

  • We arrive at Windsong Abbey, scout it out, and commit our initial foray.
  • We decided to ambush the Giants ( hill giants and ettins) in the village and wiped them out.

Return to Kaer Maga

Kuthona 26, 4716

  • We begin the intensive search of the Black Keep.
  • The small pool is a magical pool called a Naming Pool, which serves as a portal of some kind. Is this what the Caulborn are after here?
  • In a public bath filled with dark water, Grath gets attacked by three Mohrgs! We manage to kill them all without anyone getting paralyzed.
  • We find several items we had overlooked on our first trip through the previously explored areas.
  • We found a woman (a Pale Stranger) with self-loading hand crossbows in the stables. She drops Grath like a bad habit. Holo & Pavo managed to kill her before she could take out anyone else.
  • Before we could investigate anything else, four Caulborn and two floating brains enter the Black Keep behind us. As expected, they betrayed us.
  • Holo, under the effects of a Confusion spell, killed Onos.
  • We managed to kill all the fuckers. With Onos dead and most of Sawyer’s spells gone, we decided to leave this place.
  • Did some selling and buying to get Onos raised from the dead.

Kuthona 28, 4716

  • Spent two days in the library.
  • Onos is back from the dead.
  • We leave Kaer Maga for Magnimar.
